Church Services At Steele City Presbyterian Hold Strong Attendance

The Steele City Presbyterian church held well attended Sunday services with Rev. Kearns preaching both morning and evening. A large Sunday School gathered as the choir delivered music including a quartet. The Rev. Kearns will lead services until a regular minister is found and plans a lecture titled Keep America Christian with stereopticon slides.

Cement Mills and Lumber Trade Dominate Local Industry

The area features a large cement factory employing many men along with several saw and shingle mills and logging camps near town. A branch line of the Great Northern Railroad passes through, supporting cement lumber and shingles traffic. Orchard fruit includes apples pears peaches plums and wild berries in the timber. The Skagit River lies south of town and the Baker River heads nearby.
