Community notes record visits and gatherings around the area. Mr and Mrs Glen Lynch and others called on Mr and Mrs Griffing. W Crouse plans a several month stay. Frank Jones and Frank Franken travel for visits. June Allen and Caas Haig family gatherings noted.
A string of Sunday visits and weekend trips is reported from Steele City and nearby towns. Residents such as Mr and Mrs T W Zoetlin, Frank Bryant, Charles Andrews, Wells, Russell Bryant, and others were seen at various homes. Trips include William Beckman planning a move to Iowa and Mrs Morehead returning to Salem Nebraska.
The town prepares for a big corn husking contest to be held November 3 at 2 p.m. in the McCurdy field west of town. Seven contestants are named Roy James Fred Fuqua Ralph Sands Mr Nance Joe James Philip Pickering and Alvy Negus. One team and wagon required. prizes of 15 9 and 5 awarded to top finishers.
Hilda Janasen, working in Fairbury, spent the weekend with Rose Malady. A large crowd attended Roy Montgomery's sale on Wednesday. everything sold well. John Knecke shucked corn for John Malady. Mr and Mrs Walter James Frances spent Sunday at the Tom Goca home.
Esther Janssen has shown gradual improvement following a diphtheria bout. Frank Fentiman of Liberty visited Thursday to retrieve his cattle from pastures. The Rocky Hollow school reopened Monday after a weeklong diphtheria closure. Mrs Perry Carrico hosted a surprise visit Tuesday evening from her sister and Iowa relatives.
