David Snyder and his son shot a large American eagle near Kester son ranch while hunting on a Thursday afternoon. The immense bird spanned six feet six inches tip to tip and perched above them in a cottonwood tree, a sight described as able to carry off a small child.
Dist 88 pupils with teacher Miss Lucy Nuckolls presented a lively program last Tuesday night. A box supper followed, selling twenty one boxes and netting 29.15 dollars. Many attendees from Fairbury joined the event, including a reading by a Fairbury youth.
Local well drillers note J Cy Wilson has bought a full outfit for water wells. He is an experienced hand in the business and promotes reliable, ample water supplies through his new purchase.
Miss Abbie Sutton returned Wednesday from New Castle Wyoming where she spent the summer with her sister Mrs M Comfort Mrs K Roderick came down from Council Bluffs Friday night to care for her daughter in law Mrs A J Roderick who remains quite ill Mr and Mrs B Rucker went to Seneca Kansas Wednesday to visit the latter's brother W G Rucker and family Geo Crane left Saturday for a combine business and pleasure trip to Chicago and other places of boyhood days in Illinois and Town He plans to stay ten days

John Ridgway of Iowa visited his daughter Mrs. J C Wilson and reconnected with Nat Willey, a comrade from the Civil War. They both served in Company Cates I, 23rd Iowa Infantry and were discharged August 8 1865. The reunion revived their long friendship from the war days.
Pa Blauvelt returns home for Thanksgiving. Mrs John Hoeft and daughter Jessie visit relatives in Blue Rapids and Waterville Kansas. Missionary A M Wilcox, after 25 years in China, visits brother M C Wilcox and family then heads to Texas. Misses Nannie Rucker Gertrude Andrews Ada Comstock and Ella Wells travel to Lincoln for the State Teachers association. Sixteen Woodmen chapter members go to Fairbury to welcome about 50 new members and meet officers.
