Cold weather season is at hand and shoppers are urged to prepare with flannels woolen goods warm shoes eps gloves hosiery and more. The store promotes a large stock and reasonable prices inviting customers to visit and see the offerings.
A. H. Phelps shipped a car of wheat Monday. Capt. Andrews returned Wednesday from Kansas. H Dawson of Endicott and others visited town. The Ladies Aid prepared dinners and quilted at the church. New corn sales and hay trades mark a busy week. Born to Ralph Hughes a boy on November 10.
James Castor of Alexandria visited Steele City on Tuesday as hog markets declined and meat costs eased for working families. Local land offerings from G E Bloom promise homestead relinquishments and deeded tracts near railroads in alfalfa districts. A 47 year old Russian exiled man Max Pape, paralyzed on one side, sought alms while recounting exile experiences in Siberia. A horse drawn chase ended without injury after a chaotic Main Street scene near Dr T Taylor’s office and George Crane’s shop.
Perry Bugbée was off duty after an accident last Friday while husking corn for W. H. Barber. A playful scuffle with Harold Barber caused a cut lip when a husking peg struck it, tearing the lower lip an inch. Dr. Taylor sutured the wound.
Regular correspondent Jim Lewis reports on visits and social calls around Hollenberg. Names include Sydney Townsend Roscoe Ahlers Fred McCoy Mrs A W Talcott and Dr and Mrs Barron. several relatives travel to Belvidere Lanham and Wyoming. a "Hard Times" social is planned at the Methodist parsonage.

A Friday evening event warns gentlemen to wear neckties or shirts or face a five cent fine and ladies to dress in their best finery or risk similar notice. Admission is ten cents with hard times refreshments served.
