On Tuesday morning a heavy frost was seen in the area and today a light frost touched low places. Snow reported in Wyoming and western areas, while the early week cold spell drives the cool weather across the state.
A special train carrying 100 Kansas City Commercial Club members arrives in Breele City at 5 09 this evening and departs at 5 24. The trip aims to advertise Kansas City and attract trade to the city. residents urged to attend.
G W Carmichael living west of town has a new road drag and plans to use it after every rain. Several others are talking of adopting similar habits and the community could gain better roads if the practice spreads. Wm.
Motor car service restored on the Grand Island line starting June 2. A car will depart the union passenger station in the afternoon to Hanover Kansas, with a Hanover to Grand Island car arriving about 11 o clock. A second car will run between Hanover and Grand Island linking with the St Joseph line.
Postmaster Rucker received notice that a postal savings bank will be established here the first of June. A post office inspector will be here before that time to assist and explain the operation of a postal savings depository. The program will encourage saving among boys and girls with deposits up to two percent interest per year.

The Steele City High School graduation will be held tonight at 8 in the M. E. church. Six seniors—Elma Hartzell, Harry Weddel, Linnie Cook, Walter Pickering, Harry Wilson, and Edythe Coons—will finish the course with class speeches. Rev. A. B. Shepard will deliver the invocation and music will be provided by vocal and instrumental performances followed by several orations and a violin duet.
An Iowa orchardist readies five thousand galvanized oil pots spread across the orchard to burn at first frost. Each pot holds about two gallons of crude oil and can keep trees above danger as long as weather is not extreme, with claims of controlling frost by 10 to 12 degrees. It is hoped the pots won’t be needed.
The M E Church outlines Sunday School at 10 a m and preaching on alternating Sundays at 11 a m and 7 30 p m. Prayer meeting is each Thursday at 7 30 p m. The Junior League focuses on Zeal a Secret of Success next Sunday. Ladies Aid met with thirteen members, three new. Lawn social next week at Mrs S Babcock home. Mothers Day program next Sunday morning invites all mothers. Epworth League to use the preaching hour next Sunday evening while the pastor preaches at Endicott.
A meeting was held last Friday evening at the M. E. church to plan Memorial day observances. Committees were appointed to handle arrangements for the event.
