Beginning May 15 Steele City merchandise stores will close at 8 p m each evening except Saturday during the summer months. Merchants need not remain open longer than fourteen hours and no worker may exceed ten hours per law. Trade before 8 p m on and after the 16th.
The Fairbury High School senior class of 43 of 45 traveled by 11 o'clock train to Steele City on Friday May 3. They carried lunch baskets for a canyon day northwest of Charles Andrews’ residence where Mr. Oer and three teams helped move them to the farm grounds.
The group spent the day in, eating, games, exploring the grounds and taking pictures under the chaperonage of Miss Anderson and Miss Steckelburg. Lloyd Taylor and Rupert Andrews hosted at Rupert’s home with a two course supper by Mrs. J S Taylor and Mrs. Andrews, followed by readings by Alfred Andrews and a prophecies paper by Fern Wary. They returned to Fairbury on the 2 52 train.

Attendance was strong as the baccalaureate service was led by the pastor last Sunday evening. The church displayed pink and blue colors and was decorated with flowers. Special music by a combined church choir was directed by Miss Maude Willey.
The adjourned village board installed Crane Ellermeier and Wilson with Clapp re-elected as chairman. An annual budget levies ten mills, funds officers salaries, streets, water, and general funds. Meeting cadence changes to first Monday monthly. fire protection plans and optional street grader debated amid no action on equipment.
