Wheat harvesting begins in Oklahoma and Kansas with reports of strong grain quality. Kansas expects forty thousand harvest workers at 3.50 to 4.00 dollars per day plus board. A swift coast to coast flight by Lieutenant Maughan covered 2670 miles in 21 hours 47 minutes 45 seconds, landing in San Francisco after five refueling stops. President Coolidge sent congratulations by wire.

The Presbyterian youth held a Thursday social with outdoor games and shelter in the north church during rain. Reynolds forfeited a county league game against Steele City due to missing players, while Frank Crinklaw's team beat the league squad 4 to 8. Other results included Fairbury 4 Powell 7 Diller 6 Gladstone 7 Harbine 6 Endicott 4. A roller skating rink is under construction in Steele City owned by A. K. Davie of Beatrice. Mrs. Shultz and daughter arrived in California from Cozad. Ed. Fuqua lost a nearly new wagon to a fallen tree on Sunday.
