Mrs. Pred Kenning died at her Fairbery home after years of residence before moving to Jet. An obituary notes her long life, with family and neighbors recalling her work and community ties.
Genevieve Drake visits grandparents in Beatrice while Miss Neilie Drake enjoys a vacation from duties. Mrs. Tarnow returns from Hubbell after two weeks away. Endicott residents Bernhardt visit daughter Mrs Woods and Bertha Gray. F W Newde of Detroit and Mrs C A Horse spend a week with the Lowe family. Deshler visits, Imperial Nebraska relatives visited, Mrs Hubert Manning and Hazel Dean head to Imperial for relatives. Onaway Club gathers for social at Mrs Ralph Arner home with two course luncheon. Ed Hughes and Mrs C C Matthis of Fairbury and Walter Mullen of Chicago plan Chicago trip after funeral in Fairbury. Fern Kiskall takes a telephone job vacation.

The sixth annual County Sunday School picnic will be at Fairbury on Thursday August 28. All county churches and neighboring churches are invited. A forenoon parade features six teams from churches and Sunday School groups with prizes. Afternoon athletic stunts, park refreshments, and a communal picnic dinner round out the day.
Mr and Mrs Chas C Andrews of Oak Park announce the marriage of their daughter Margaret to George L Lincoln of Chicago on August 2 at Oak Park home. Margaret, a University of Denver graduate 1921, has taught since and led a junior high in Oak Park the past three years. Lincoln works for U S Gypsum Co Chicago. After the wedding the couple honeymooned at Mackinac Island and will live in Oak Park.
Sabeths Kansas reports Carl McDoneld of Steele City Nebraska operates a cafe in Steele City and the story notes his establishment and activities as of August 10.
The Jefferson County Fair runs 7 a.m. Tuesday August 30 through midnight Friday September 2 1927. Fireworks each night with a different display, skating by the Barger Miller Trio, aerial acts by Taylor and Moore Gooth Bros. Music by Fairbury and Deshler bands. A big show Thursday at 730 p.m. team pulling contests, ball games, live stock parade and extensive displays of cattle horses mules poultry and farm products plus women’s and schools departments and a baby items display.
Leah Woods daughter of S. H. Woods died at age 14 years 9 months in Steele City Nebraska on August 9 1927 after a long illness. She was born April 9 1912 in Albemarle and moved with her family to Endicott and then Steele City. Funeral services were held August 10 at 2 p.m. in Steele City with Rev W W Pfautz officiating. She leaves her parents two sisters Grace and Goldie a brother Thomas and two sisters Mrs A Seehhard and Mrs Alfred Williams.
Gratitude to friends and neighbors for aid during illness and after the death of our daughter and sister. Special thanks to choir members, those giving flowers and furnishing cars. S H Woods family names Grace Goldie Woods Thomas Woods Mrs Seacherd Mrs Alfred Williams.

The Farmers Union has begun construction of a new elevator just south of the old one. Ground lumber lies nearby and the underground pit is being dug. The completed site will cover about 30,236 feet with a capacity around 10,000 bushels for frame use by Gail Gnagy and family.
Mr and Mrs C T Whitney and Harold returned Sunday from a six week auto tour of western Nebraska and the Black Hills of Dakota. They report a fine time seeing much scenery and having no cap trouble. When in Fairbury take worn shoes to Fairbury Electing Shoe Shop for repairs at the beam of leather used and the best workmanship Corner north of Boma ham Theatre.
