British couple bikes world tour from England to America
Eric and Jill Stockley of Yorkshire plan a world bicycle journey to defy mortgage life. They left England last November on two handmade bikes with a backpack, rode to Florida, Kansas, and Wichita Falls, then through Stamford, sharing stories of lifting education, costs, and a Guinness Book of World Records bid. They expect to return to nursing and deaf services after the trip and may write a book in four years.

Stamford NHS chapter inducts new members
The National Honor Society at Stamford High School inducted new members last Tuesday. Seniors Jackie Cooper and Sharon Gilbreath joined with sophomores Medford Teresa Mueller Trung Pham and Melissa Shelhamer, chosen for leadership service scholarship and character. Members met criteria of grade points and completed activity sheets before certificates were presented.

Fine Arts Club elects officers for 1981 82 year
Newly elected Fine Arts Club officers were installed at the Stamford Country Club closing meeting for 1980 81. Mrs J C Riddle installed the 1981 82 officers presenting each with a small replica of a musical instrument. The program included a solo by Susan Miller I Wish You Love Jennifer Hickman sang Songbird and the Fine Arts Singers performed Were All Alone. Mothers of members served as special guests and hostesses.

Stamford High cheerleaders kick off fundraising drive
The 1961-62 Stamford High School cheerleaders and mascot launch fund raising to cover uniforms and supplies. They collect aluminum cans and plan a rummage sale on May 30 from 9 am to 5 pm. Donations can be made through any cheerleader or the mascot Kim Kainer.
