DeBusk and Boykin win PCA director posts in Stamford

At the 47th annual Rolling Plains Production Credit Association meeting in Stamford High School, B H DeBusk of Anson and W J Boykin of Northfield were reelected to three year terms. They joined Willard H Williams, Dan Howard Jr, and Garon B Tidwell as directors.

Stamford City Council considers revised water project costs

The Stamford City Council heard a Freese and Nichols briefing on rising costs for the water works renovation bring the total to 1.04 million dollars from an originally projected 900 thousand. Two high service pumps were removed, while two larger pumps remained, and Decker Construction was favored over rivals for final work. The meeting also covered HUD funded planning, VIP Community Center support, a street name change petition, and a paving hearing for Hobart and Gould Streets. Weather permitting, water-tower work by Southwest Tank and Tower of Tatum, New Mexico began with sandblasting and is expected to finish in about four weeks.

Residents to watch water use in Stamford

Stamford residents are asked to monitor water consumption for the next weeks as the city repairs the large water tower. With a second smaller tower in use and dry weather aiding the process, officials aim to finish in about four weeks. Peak hours 6 to 9 a.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. require no lawn watering.

Jones County real property reappraisal underway

The Appraisal District of Jones County begins a full reappraisal to meet Texas 1979 legislation. Associated Tax Services, Inc. of Irving will complete the project by April 1, 1982, using local data and field surveys to set values for all taxable property.
