Stamford High honors top scholars at Awards Day
Seven Stamford High students seven grade math team and SHS speech and drama members were honored at Awards Day in the SHS auditorium. About 70 students received awards as principal Bill Preston and Dean Jerry Taylor presided. Top awardees include Lloyd Funk Teresa Mueller Paula Smith with five awards and Gary Jenkins Diane Lopez Mandy McKeever Trung Pham with four awards. The seventh grade math team won first place in the Texas State Mathematics League Contest, with team members Shonda Baumbeck Barbie McGaughey Beth Stanford Mark Taylor and Tiffne Taylor receiving a plaque. Thunderstorms drench Stamford area again
An intense line of thunderstorms drenched Stamford late Thursday night with .81 inch of rain, bringing May totals to 1.46 inches. A cool front followed, lowering the temperature to a record 43 degrees Monday morning. KDWT reported 8.82 inches of moisture this year, ahead of the May normal of 9.24 inches.
