Wheat harvest progress and crop conditions near Stamford

The Stamford area wheat harvest is about 90 percent complete despite rain delays. Grain buyers report lighter yields overall due to dry weather and hail, with the south and west hit hardest and the east noting best returns from five to 29.5 bushels per acre. Maize and cotton show promise but face harvest obstacles as rains accumulate. June rainfall totals reach 0.85 inch, with year-to-date 13.21 inches.
