Brave Denver man overcomes ruin to teach art at home
The editorial recounts Albert E. Blake of Denver who fell from a hatch and broke his back. After surgeries he survived against odds, endured five years in a county infirmary, amputated his legs, faced erysipelas and tetanus, and finally built a home, taught art from a wheeled chair, and gained esteem. His story challenges despair and reviles complaint.
