Bethlehem Church History Chronicle of Bethlehem church at Bethlehem
The history covers Bethlehem Baptist Church in Washington County Kentucky from its 1806 organization by a Presbytery of the Original South District Association through 1904. It notes deacon and clerk appointments, pastorates, suspensions and expulsions for immorality, church moves, construction of a brick meeting house, shifts in association affiliations, and ongoing missionary activity. The narrative highlights key figures such as Padget, Jeffreys, Hardesty, Stirman, Buckner, Kirtley, Purdom, Gordon, Claybrooke, Campbell, and several others, detailing protracted meetings, additions by experience and baptism, and the church’s stance on scripture as its sole rule of faith.
