Retired Ky Stock Raiser Undergoes Major Operation
J R Claybrooke of Springfield Kentucky, 71, underwent a difficult operation at St Josephs Infirmary in Louisville at 9 this morning. Five stones were removed, the smallest partridge egg in size. Surgeons Vance and Matthews conducted the procedure. he previously had a similar operation seven years ago removing a stone as large as a turkey egg weighing 1400 grains. He has been ill for three years but is improving and is expected to regain health pending shock recovery. He arrived in Louisville last night with wife Jennie and sons W D Claybrooke and Joseph E Claybrooke. his son is a state legislator. He formerly represented Washington county in the Legislature. Reports say he is improving.

Death of Mr. Griffing in Pleasant Grove
John F. Griffing died at his home in Pleasant Grove Monday night after a month long battle with typhoid fever. A 50 year old Taylor county native who had resided in Washington county, he was a devout Methodist and leaves a wife and one child. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church and he was buried in the local cemetery.
