Opposition forms against McChord in Kentucky race
A minority of the Republican Committee of the Second district failed to call a nomination convention. Col. L P Tarlton filed a petition in Frankfort seeking to place him on the ballot under Log Cabin as the Republican nominee in direct opposition to McChord. Business leaders and many state Republicans had favored McChord, valuing his role as Kentucky Railroad Commissioner and his tariff expertise, making an opposition ticket unlikely.
