Iran signals nuclear breakthrough possible in UN talks
Iran told UN chief Kofi Annan a breakthrough in its nuclear dispute is possible if talks remain unconditional. President Ahmadinejad said Tehran seeks fair negotiations with all parties, including the United States, and would not rush to judge the new incentives package offered by six powers and Germany. He stressed Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.

Canada Foils Terror Plot Arrests 17 Suspects
Canadian police thwarted a homegrown attack by arresting 17 suspects tied to an al-Qaeda inspired plot. Authorities say the group acquired three tons of ammonium nitrate, far more than the Oklahoma City bombing, with training and intent to strike Canadian targets. Court actions began as police displayed materials and outlined potential targets in Ontario and Toronto.
