Carbondale to Lose Three Longtime City Leaders
Carbondale plans retirements of Fire Chief Jeff Anderson, Maintenance and Environmental Services Manager Wayne Wheeles, and engineering technician Bill Jezierski at month end. Anderson, 55, has 31 years with the fire department and will step aside after 1998’s ascent to chief. Wheeles, 58, has 35 years with the city and led the department since 1980, overseeing recycling program growth. He aims to spend more time with grandchildren after retirement.
