West City police hunt for Leggans murder suspect

Police seek Brian H. Cockrum after authorities identify Cindy Leggans as the victim found beaten in a Chevrolet Avalanche inside a Kentucky Street metal building owned by Clifford Cockrum. The 33 year old wife of Assistant U.S. Attorney Tom Leggans died from blunt trauma. a time of death is undetermined and Cockrum remains at large as investigators with local and federal agencies pursue leads.

Centennial celebration marks 100 years at Lesser's First Baptist

Mable Page, 91, has attended 83 years at Lesser's First Baptist Church as it marks its centennial with a weekend program. Services feature songs by Bill and Sally Smith while former pastors Robert Rose and Clifford Burney deliver messages. Located north of Sesser on Illinois 148, the church began June 6, 1906 in a general store upstairs.

Stutz given 75 year term for Williams death

Williamson County Judge Phillip Palmer sentenced Darek A. Stutz, 33, to 75 years in prison for the July 2005 shooting death of 16 year old Tamika Williams. Stutz, who said the death was accidental, read a tearful plea to Williams' family and maintained he did not murder her. The jury found him guilty of first degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
