Weather promoted mould and rot disease in seed affecting plant growth. Run tests for a week to ten days to detect moulds and rats in seed and discard spoiled ears. Make a poison dough bait with water flour and barium carbonate for runs, avoid arsenic. Feed sows after farrowing with abundant water and a milk-boosting mix of oats middlings skimmed milk and oilmeal alongside corn or barley.
Dig out the barberries root and all with care and watch for sprouts for several years. Dig them in April when rust infection starts or possibly even in April in mild seasons. Barberry experts at state college will help identify barberries.

Brookings 8 D April 1. Dairy instructor Thomas M. Olson urges replacing scrub sires with purebred stock. He calls Bologna bulls imposters and parasitic to the livestock industry, advising farmers to sell scrub sires to the butcher and invest in purebreds unless the herd sire passes his test.
Miss Darrow’s classes had vacation days, Ralph Keagy moved away, and Ruth Marvick returned to school after an absence. The seventh grade team led by Ruth Cottingham, Gladys Lenz, Ruth Baker, Phyllis Schindler, Myrtle Carson and Mildred Lenz beat Wilmot 8 to 7 with Wilmot fielding four seventh graders and one sophomore.
The report covers the February 25 game on the home floor against Big Stone, a slow effort blamed on overexcitement from the preceding girls game with Wilmot won 15-8 by the visitors. Players fatigued, several subs used before the finish. A week later the team traveled to Aberdeen for the district tournament where they won one game and Mahoney captain earned district honors.
Huggins wrecking drew the class honors including center on the all district second team Stapleton and Minder received honorable mention for ward and guard respectively coaches and managers of the best teams pledged future schedules promising growth for next season after two post tournament games Veblen and Big Stone battles highlighted by a close finish with Big Stone edging 18 18 then by a basket.
