Funeral services for Maggie Mae Ripper 64 of Houston were held at 1 30 p m in the Pat H Foley Chapel with Rev Morgan Biggs officiating. Burial followed in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. She died Wednesday from an automobile wreck. Survived by husband John Ripper Jr daughter Dorothy Davis Odessa sons E H Harper Billy Harper both Lamberton and siblings Gus Adams Fannett.

Burial followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Stewart James Rhodes Thomas Harris James Martin Kenneth Simmons and Calvin Simmons. West died Thursday at 3 51 p m in Silsbee Doctors Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Tyler County and a North Hardin Baptist Church member.
United Appeals of Hardin County kicked off the 1970 campaign aiming to raise 30000 for County Health and Welfare and national agencies. E J Dietrich named Jack Martin general campaign manager. agencies include Red Cross Boy Scouts Cerebral Palsy Camp Fire Girls Girl Scouts Muscular Dystrophy Texas Rehabilitation Center Salvation Army and USO. 1969 UA share totaled 3456.51 with funds used for drugs electricity gas water clothing transportation and hospital care. donors can designate recipients or contribute to Hardin County program.

Auto fugitive from a Mississippi chain gang, identified as a thief, fled to Houston where a 1961 Chevrolet was reportedly stolen. He then came to Silsbee and exchanged the Chevy in trade for a Dodge before returning to Mississippi. The Sept. 4 investigation was led by Silsbee Patrolman E. Thedford. the Dodge would be returned to Silsbee as soon as transportation could be arranged.
