City May Update Sewer For Industry Waste
City Manager Ronald M. Hickerson told the Texas Water Quality Board on April 23 that the city’s sewer system, built for domestic waste, is being studied for upgrades to handle industrial effluents. He noted sewer screws lowered the outfall ditch to control floods and described efforts to reduce suspended solids. The city plans to analyze effluent chemistry and may buy lab equipment, with pre treatment or removal of the plant from city sewers as options. An industry partner is being examined to lessen discharge impact, while the board is urged to support continued use of city sewers via a city industry agreement.
