Our Little Miss and Miss La Petite Pageant Debuts
The first annual Our Little Miss and Miss La Petite pageant for Hardin County is set for 7:30 p m Friday May 1 at the Silsbee Junior High School auditorium. Forty five entrants ages 7 to 12 and 3 to 6 will compete. Pageant director is Mrs H C Scoggins. Tickets at the door or A H Hair Fashions. Photographs of entrants appear in this issue.

IBEW Local 2286 reports no official word on a Gulf States Utilities suit filed April 29 as talks with GSU and mediator Winchster proceed. The dispute began April 22 in Baton Rouge over cross pickup line refusals, spreading to most of the GSU system with 2200 Southeast Texas and Southwestern Louisiana employees affected.

W T Callaway of Silsbee held in Hardin County jail on $2500 bond after being charged with murder in the April 26 shooting death of Bobby Gent Segrest. Segrest died after a confrontation at a pool hall north of Silsbee on FM 92. Callaway allegedly ordered Segrest to leave and a fight followed. Funeral services for Segrest were held April 29 at Pace Funeral Home in Kountze with burial in Cunningham Cemetery.

Suspect Arrested In Two Burglaries In Silsbee
One man, W T Callaway of Silsbee, was arrested on two burglary counts involving coin operated machines. The suspect was arraigned with bond set at $1,000 after being brought from Port Arthur. Separately, a West Hardin School burglary is being investigated and a car lot theft of wheel covers is under inquiry.

Two Silsbee brothers faced charges after the Sunday stabbing of Leroy Stallworth. Cleo Price was charged with resisting arrest drunk in public and aggravated assault with a bone set. Leo Frice faced assault with intent to murder and disorderly conduct. Stallworth was hospitalized and later released.
