One Time Baseball Star Red Donovan Faces Floater Sentence
Red Donovan, former major league pitcher for the St. Louis Browns and a star in the 1920 Sidney team, was arrested for vagrancy in Denver this week. A Denver magistrate imposed a floater, requiring immediate departure or a three day county jail term. In court, testimony showed he is a chloroform addict and he was found under the influence on Monday while being treated for heart disease. He is 42 years old.

Death of Infant Bonna Mae Harlan at Sidney area
Twin girls were born to Mr and Mrs R F Harlan six miles southwest of Sidney Sunday at a local hospital. Bonna Mae died two days later. Rev J H Bicknell conducted funeral services at the Howard funeral chapel Thursday at two o clock. She was laid to rest in Sidney cemetery.

Platte Valley Telephone System Sold to Chicago Firm
The Platte Valley Telephone system serving Scottsbluff and North Platte Valley was sold this week to Commonwealth Telephone Company of Chicago. John B. Cook, PVTC president, said the deal closed in Chicago. Commonwealth, a large multi state company, plans potential head offices in Scottsbluff. The system covers about 175 miles from Ogallala to Guernsey and 60 miles from Scottsbluff to Albany, with 45 exchanges, over 500 miles of long distance lines and 18 000 stations serving more than 150 000 people. Sale price not disclosed.
