Harvest Beet Start October 6 for Scottsbluff Gering Areas
Western Sugars will begin beet harvest October 6 with receiving stations opening on that date. The Scottsbluff factory will start operations once sufficient beets are accumulated. Recent field samples suggest good tonnage and sugar content overall, except where hail damage occurred. Mechanical harvesting will dominate in the Scottsbluff district, with enough local labor to finish the rest.
