Statement by E H Biggs on land deals and repayment plan
E H Biggs tells a Telegraph representative about failed Iowa land deals, a $1 750 Sharp house purchase, use of county funds to cover taxes, and the pressure from attorneys. He admits wrongdoing, expresses regret, offers to repay the shortage, denies seeking sympathy, and notes not to discuss with the county attorney since waiving preliminary hearing. He says the privacy of the Telegraph statement was to counter a public report of refusal to account for the shortage.
