Wheat Test Plot Planned in Cheyenne County
An experimental wheat plot of six varieties was planted on the Ed Block farm north of Sunol to test milling baking qualities for climate suitability. Kenneth Van Skike and Mr Block conducted planting under Nebraska Crop Improvement Association guidance led by secretary J C Swinbank. An additional plot was established near Gurley with six winter barley varieties joining a dozen wheat varieties already under study for yield hardiness and adaptability.
