Next of Kin to Get Increased Burial Funds

Public Law 383 increases maximum burial reimbursement for World War II deceased to 75 dollars from 50, effective October 1. Col M A Quinn, Kansas City Quartermaster Depot, says the rise affects all return or reburial cases, with final burials in private cemeteries at home or overseas under way in October. The program covers burial expenses, transportation, caskets, and headstones, with forms for up to 75 dollars provided to next of kin by the military escort. While the first return is planned for October, Washington offices continue mailing inquiry letters to next of kin about final disposition, a process to extend for months.
