Tree like burn lines mark lightning strike escape
James Dickerson of Potter was knocked unconscious when lightning struck the Carl Larson farm as he fed wheat. The tractor then veered, stalled in a borrow pit, and Dickerson crawled free after signaling a passing car. Doctors noted tree branch like burn lines on his body. He was released after about a day in hospital.

Charles Kerl Funeral Held
Funeral rites for Charles F. Kerl 59 were held at The Gehrig Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon. The Rev. Walter Jewett officiated. Burial was in Sidney cemetery. Kerl, father of five sons, four in Europe military service, had been living in Hemingford recently while considering Chappell home. He was fatally injured when a Porter Oil Co. truck he drove on Highway 30 near Sidney skidded and rolled after losing control, possibly due to shifted load.

One thousand to 1500 teachers from 15 western Nebraska counties will attend the Sixth District convention of the Nebraska State Educational Association in Alliance.
