Fall Harvest Sparks Optimism Across Panhandle Farms
Farmers in western Nebraska report a favorable start to fall harvest with frost delayed. Much corn, including late July plantings, is maturing and outlooks predict a strong season for dryland and irrigated plots. Beets, beans, and winter wheat show potential, though bean winds and sugar beet quality remain uncertainties as frost approaches.

Two Good Oil Producers Enter Kimball County Wells
Two top oil producers are now active in Kimball County Nebraska. Sundance Oil Co. reports output at 300 barrels daily from the No. 1 Bertramson and 275 from the No. 1 Beranek with offshore drilling planned. The Bertramson proves a strong center for the reservoir while the Beranek could open a major new field despite a prior dry hole nearby. Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in Sidney calls the findings an encouraging boost as drilling slows. New field well reported in Banner County at the Harrisburg Field with No. 11 Hinshaw in production and No. 12 Hinshaw pending, part of a long-standing water-flood secondary recovery. Banner County now has four rigs. Tom Jordan Jr. begins a wildcat at the No. 1 Mable Doran in Cheyenne County with Toltek Drilling Co. John Ashby and Triangle J Drilling Co. also pursue a wildcat at the No. 1 State near Morrill County. Platte Valley Oil Co. drills the No. 1 Trumble in Red Willow County near Sleepy Hollow Field, the nearest well about a mile and a half away.
