Amaryllis Meets Father in Flight and Hope

Amaryllis Minton runs away to a garden where she and a lonely boy share a brief happiness. When his father, Paul Minton, arrives, she flees with a policeman, clinging to the officer as Minton contemplates his past. Minton vows to reclaim her, acknowledging a need for love and a better fatherhood, while Amaryllis questions if love or possession defines belonging. The scene ends with Minton confessing he has not lived rightly, seeking guidance to help his daughter.
