Car Thieves Busy In Sidney Again
Car thieves struck Sidney last night taking Dave Weller’s vehicle from behind Stickney’s between 9 and 11 p.m. Neal Craig’s car was entered and an attempt to start it failed. about 500 circus tickets were stolen from the Craig car. Craig leads a VFEW circus committee for Sept. 30 and says only adult tickets were taken, printed on white stock. new tickets will be red. Deputy Brumbaugh recovered a car reported stolen Sept. 2, found abandoned near Olson place, owned by Richard Baldwin.

Forrest Planck reported finding a weather balloon from the Scotts Bluff Weather Station on his Sunol area farm. Deputy Sheriff Gene Morris investigated and said jokers attached a $500 reward tag, but no one claimed it. The balloon will be returned to the weather station despite slim chances of reward.

Two masked men held up the Fist Security Bank in Sutherland Nebraska at about 10 am on Friday and fled in a Thunder bird car with 994.17. They were found 444 miles east of Arthur after papers were found on them. The suspects were Grover C Robinson 30 and Cliff Calvin Fairall 35 both of Kansas City. They were taken to North Platte for questioning. The car was heavily damaged by gunfire, no one was seriously hurt. Four bank employees and customer Earl Sherman were inside during the holdup and were locked in the vault before release. Mrs Ed Goettert unlocked the vault after hearing the cries.

Mrs Barker Near Death After Wyoming Accident
Mrs P W Barker was reported near death this afternoon at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie Wyoming after a collision last Saturday. She suffered two broken legs and head injuries and medical staff warned she may live only a few hours. George Barker of Omaha arrived in Laramie, and his relatives from Sidney travel daily between cities while Mr Barker recovers with a broken ankle and arm.
