Pioneer Tale of Mary Bejot in Nebraska Homesteading
Mary Bejot recalls her 1884 move from Illinois to Ainsworth Nebraska and homesteading there with 60 acres of corn planted by hand. She describes brutal winters, a hail storm, crop failures, drought and wind, the 1885 tornado, stints of schooling for her children, and later moves near the car track before settling near her son.
