Lodgepole Youths Racing Is Halted
Nebraska Safety Patrolman Del Shipley halted a late Thursday night chase on Cheyenne County roads in Lodgepole area. Three youths, Clayton Way, L Burton Bondegard, and Donald Stickley all 16, faced reckless driving charges. Bondegard and Stickley pleaded guilty in Cheyenne County Court, fined 25 dollars plus costs, and received five driving- record demerits. Way’s county court hearing was set for this afternoon.

New Power Plant Unit Boosts City Generating Capacity
Chilly nights last week show the Sidney municipal power plant’s new ten cylinder engine is a sound buy. Peak loads near 3009 kilowatts, up from prior limits, lifting firm power to about 5000 kilowatts and total capacity to 8210 kilowatts. Net profit for the electric department fell from 109,810 in 1955-56 to 67,766.88 in 1956-57 due to revenue declines and higher fixed charges.

Antelope Hunt In Nebraska Sees Small Decline
Antelope hunting in southern Nebraska shows a modest drop from 1956 levels though most hunters still report kills. By 10:30 a.m. today 56 hunters had checked at the State Game Station in Sidney, with over 60 percent of area permits used. The season opened Saturday and runs until this evening with check-ins continuing until 9 a.m. tomorrow. First kill was John Hall of Sidney with an 82-pound buck. largest so far is Helen Tesar of Omaha with a 98-pound buck. A 5.5-year-old buck owned by Robert Molle of Chappell had a 134 and a quarter inch antler spread, possibly a state record. another antelope showed a 12.5 inch spread by Russell Lindley of Lodgepole. Hunters say antelopes are spooky and running wild.
