In Juelfs-Gaylord Field British American Oil near pay zone on one well and locating McNish No. 2. Kimball County sees Richards No. 2 sand producer in Southwest Potter field with 1,280 feet oil in 34 minutes from J sand. Miller to visit Sidney for governmental clinic

Nebraska Representative A. I. Miller of Kimball will be in Sidney Monday for his annual governmental clinic. The veteran Fourth District congressman will start at 2 p.m. in the Cheyenne County District Courtroom and invites persons to meet him then.

Valuable Historical Collection Donated To Cheyenne County Group

A varied collection of historical items valued in the hundreds of dollars is being donated to the Cheyenne County Historical Association by Mr and Mrs Frank Helms of Sidney. Donors hope the items fit future museum displays while a permanent museum is funded via a one tenth mill levy on the 1955 general election ballot. Items include an 1892 Blickensderfer typewriter, a 1900 patent Swedish American telephone, old scales, a clothing trunk used by Senator Isaac Baldwin in the 1880s, a butter bowl, vintage carpenter tools, clothing and bedding, and furniture dating to the 1830s.

Tornado Hunters End Work Monday at Sioux Depot

A Special Air Force weather detachment at Sioux Ordnance Depot completes a three year run after a summer of daily upper air observations. The unit, part of a Great Plains network, relays data from up to 90,000 feet for tornado and severe weather warnings to Kansas City, with headquarters at Tinker AFB.

Violations Reported In Cheyenne County Soil Bank

Two soil bank violations were reported in Cheyenne County this year by the county Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation office. One farmer paid about 700 dollars in penalties, another owes about 1,150. A third apparent conservation reserve case involves growing crops on idle land, with penalties up to 50 percent of payments if violations are intentional, and forfeiture otherwise.

Mrs Dykman 85 Dies At Lodgepole Nebraska

Mrs Jurgen Dykman 85 died this morning at the Lodgepole farm home of a daughter Mrs Wallace Hern bloom. Funeral set for Monday at 2 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church Lodgepole with Rev Norman Schroeder officiating. Burial in St Johns Lutheran Cemetery north of Lodgepole. Surviving are six daughters three sons 41 grandchildren 65 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Arrangements by Craig Mortuary.

New Surfacing For 2 Streets In Sidney

Two blocks of Maple Street were surfaced yesterday with a crowned surface and oil matt to improve drainage before being deemed too flat. A block of King Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenue will receive the same treatment. Afterward, seal coating is planned for central city streets, weather permitting, with north south streets likely to be prioritized.

Heart Attack Victim Improving Says Hospital Aides

Dr Leo J. Thomas, hospitalized after a severe heart attack suffered early Saturday at his home on 1117 King Street, was reported improving today by attendants at Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital. The condition update follows the weekend admission and ongoing treatment.

Three Injured In Sidney Vehicle Crash Series

A spate of motor vehicle accidents in the Sidney area left three injured. Roger Millward, 21, of Sidney, was taken to Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital after his 1948 car left the road and struck a mailbox west of Sidney. Millward faces a traffic charge. A. F. Bonesteel, 36, also of Sidney, suffered cuts and bruises in a near head on collision on Highway 30 east of Sidney, involving William McCarty, 33. McCarty’s car sustained about 1,800 dollars in damage. Rodney Jobman, nine, rode into a collision between a car driven by Betty Hoover, 31, and his bicycle at 13th Avenue and Illinois Street with no injuries. Damages about 185 dollars.

Final Rites Today For William H Frerichs 80

Funeral services were held this afternoon at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for William Harm Frerichs aged 80 who died Monday at Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital. Rev. Henry Monnich officiated with burial in Babb Cemetery northeast of Gurley. Arrangements by Craig Mortuary. Survivors include wife Bertie, eleven children, fifty eight grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, one sister and one brother.

Kansas City Man Held On Forgery Charge

Jessie E. Huff of Kansas City, 32, is charged with uttering a forged instrument in Cheyenne County Court. He allegedly cashed a $68 Sidney grocery store check drawn on a local Sidney bank signed by Roy White, claiming to work for him during the wheat harvest. The car Huff drove was identified, leading to his arrest at a Sidney service station. Arraignment followed the filing of the charge.

Sorghum Session Set On Thursday At County Plot

Farmers invited to a special session Thursday at the county sorghum demonstration plot on the Conrad Measing farm three miles south and one mile west of Colton. Demonstration begins at 1 pm with comparisons of Sorghum crops such as Scoti Red RS 501 RS 610 RS 590 RS 301 F Tex 620 Sorghum and Reliance, including treated and untreated seed presented by Extension agronomist Chet Swinbank.

Night Accident Nets $100 Fine

A Sidney driver, David Springer, 25, was fined 100 and costs for driving under the influence after a 12:01 am crash on Tenth Avenue. His license was suspended six months by Police Judge Glenn Greenlee. The 1950 car struck a parked vehicle owned by Rev. Henry Monnich, causing about 600 damage to the Monnich car and 200 to Springer’s vehicle.

Truck Driver Fined After Vehicle Hit

Anton Lutringer 28 of Sidney was fined $5 and costs in Cheyenne County Court for operating a vehicle with faulty brakes after his truck was rear ended by Gerard Desroches 28 of San Jose Calif. The two-vehicle crash occurred three miles east of Sidney on Highway 30 Wednesday morning. Nebraska Safety Patrol estimated damage at $50 to the truck and $400 to the car.

About 5 000 to 6 000 notices will be mailed by the end of October, with new real estate tax notices included in the same mailing.
