The opening antelope hunt in Cheyenne County drew many hunters to Sidney and surrounding areas. Bauer brothers and Mat Mauel led in weight class with hefty bucks, while 80 plus animals checked at the courthouse by 1:30 p.m. Monday. Most kills weighed under 100 pounds, average 60 to 80, with hunting hours set from half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset. The five day season ends Friday and south of US 30 remains the open zone.

Cecilia Taylor a 9 year old girl was slightly hurt Friday when struck by a car at the intersection of 16th and Dodge Streets. The auto was driven by Jo A. Robirds 16 who told police she was blinded by sun on the windshield and did not see the child until she was over the fender. Cecelia was struck by the left front fender of the vehicle.
