Voting Won't Include School Issue in Nov. 6 Election
Sidney School District I trustees decided on Monday night that a proposed bond issue to finance an addition to Sidney Senior High will not appear on the November 6 general ballot. Time constraints for presenting the bond plan prompted postponement pending results of a statewide school survey led by experts from the state department of education. The survey team briefed the board on minimum requirements for Sidney schools, with results to be released publicly in about ten days. The board will assess the findings to determine actual needs. In other action, the board formed a committee to promote Americanism in classrooms, and awarded the gasoline contract for school vehicles to Mumby’s Enco at 259 cents per gallon plus four cents state tax. The district also approved purchasing a cab tractor from the McCormick Farm Store for $1,625 with trade.

At 6:38 am on Highway 30 nine miles west of Sidney two cars collided. Violet A. Gooch 55 Carlisle Iowa drove a 1956 Ford and Ralph Robertson 68 Potter drove a 1962 Chevrolet. Lloyd Goosh suffered a slight back injury and Robertson a minor neck injury. Both vehicles eastbound. Robertson slowed as another car pulled off. Goosh swerved to avoid. Damages estimated at 300 to Robertson and total for Gooch car.

Lodgepole Boy Struck By Car Not Badly Hurt
Eight-year old Roger Hafer of Lodgepole was struck by a westbound 1956 Ford driven by Jamie Ruiz in Lodgepole on Highway 30 at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Lincoln Associated Press Federal District Court refused to grant the relief sought by Nebraska plaintiffs aiming to force state legislative redistricting. The three judge panel declined to enjoin the November 6 general election on a constitutional amendment that would weight 20 to 30 percent by area in future redistricting.
