Route 30 widening not feasible now in Nebraska

State Engineer Harold L. Aitken said widening U.S. Route 30 between Grand Island and North Platte to 24 feet and resurfacing at current prices would cost about 3.5 million dollars, more than the original 20-foot construction. He cited limited resources and rising costs, noting 9.14 miles remain unfunded for widening and that maintenance costs on past sections have surged.
