Milk scatters after truck car crash on Maple Street
About 250 bottles of milk spilled after a Sidney Creamery truck collided nearly head on with a 1938 Ford coach at the Maple and 10th Avenue intersection. The driver Alvin M. Miles of the 1948 International was southbound and turned onto Maple when the crash occurred. Lois M. Sweet drove the Ford. Miss Sweet was treated for cuts and bruises, Mrs Lloyd Sweet for facial cuts and broken ribs. Damages were $200 to the milk truck and over $100 to the car.

Rites Sunday for J W Smith 77 Dalton resident
Funeral services were held Sunday for John W. Smith 77 a longtime Dalton resident since 1918 who died Thursday at Dalton hospital after a six week illness. Rev Raymond Bartels officiated at Dalton Lutheran Church. Burial followed at Dalton Cemetery under Gehrig Funeral Home direction. He was born June 11 1874 in Wisner Nebraska and married Caroline Lange in Bloomfield December 1 1902. They moved to Dalton in 1918 to farm. Surviving are two children Leonard C Smith of Chehalis Washington and Mrs Louis Volker of Dalton six grandchildren one great grandchild and one sister Mrs Anna Cork Colome South Dakota. Three children preceded him in death.
