Funeral services were held Aug 26. he was born Aug 23 1887 in Grainfield Kansas and lived in Sidney over 40 years before moving in 1944. Kimball County reports its fourteenth oil discovery of the year on the eastern edge. Falcon-Sea board’s No 1 Leafdale is located SW SE Section 22-16-53 about ten miles north and three miles west of Potter. The well counted as a tight hole with about 300 feet of oil recovered in a drill stem test and casing prepared for production in the J sand.

No Damage In Two Fire Calls
Sidney firemen were called to control a grass fire on the highway right of way about a mile east of town on Wednesday afternoon at 150. There was no damage listed on Chief Bob Hossle s report. At 1145 Friday the Sidney department was asked for help in fighting a fire at Lorenzo. However before the trucks got very far out of town they were informed the fire was controlled. No damage report was filed.

No Criminal Intent Found In Car Death
A Cheyenne County coroner jury concluded Allen Marsh 19 died in an automobile accident eight miles west and two miles south of Lorenzo Nebraska on August 27 1958 at about 645 pm. The panel found no criminal liability for Donald Hawkins of Lorenzo or Marco Crawford of Denver and did not determine excessive speed as a factor. Crawford testified he was parked reviewing a road map while Hawkins was not allowed to testify.

District Judge John Kuns overruled Howard Zorn s motion for a new trial in the will validation suit against Ray and Roy Buchanan. The jury ruled for Zorn. Boy narrowly escape as road roller runs over bike
Eight year old Sidney boy Gayland Wagner avoided injury when a road roller operated by Jim Fisher backed away after not seeing him. The machine rolled over the bicycle before the boy scrambled free.
