Petition seeks vote on Sidney fluoridation
City Councilman Ed Bauman filed a petition with City Clerk Gordon Tobin to either reject fluoridating Sidney water or have it voted on. The petition showed 395 signatures, above the 387 required based on 25 percent of last election’s 1,545 votes. Tobin must verify signers are registered voters and report to the Sept 9 council meeting. council will decide to reject, or place the measure on the November 5 ballot for a public vote. If not rejected or voted on, Sidney must fluoridate to state standards by Jan 1, 1975.

Traffic Court Burden Grows as Nebraska Counties See Record July
County courts in Nebraska logged about 18 000 new cases in July the busiest month since reorganization in 1973. Ellison plans storefront renovation for Sidney store
