Old Settlers Reunion and Potter Days headline county festival
The Cheyenne County calendar features the Old Settlers Reunion and Potter Days next week, plus the Dal ton Fall Festival on Sept 14–15. Bids Expected for Cheyenne County Hospital Job

Seventy two teachers from Sidney schools joined about 100 business hosts for the second annual Education Day sponsored by the Sidney Chamber of Commerce. After welcomes by George Kolzow and Frank Mattoon, groups toured 20 firms including the SOD and Ohio Oil’s drilling, with guides Waldo Deering Harold Katz and Ward Olson. Railroad Man Loses Left Foot in Mishap
Richard Ahlberg suffered a crushed left foot during a Union Pacific switching operation when a gondola car loaded with scrap rail shifted and pinned him just west of 13th Avenue. He required amputation between the knee and ankle and was freed after about 30 minutes, later reported doing fine at Sidney Hospital.

Damage Major From Piper Plane Upset
A Piper Pacer airplane owned by Don Brown of Lodgepole sustained major damage when it upset on the runway at Sidney Airport around 1 30 p m Thursday afternoon. Brown was preparing to take off when the ground roll caused the aircraft to roll onto its side. He was not injured.
