Winter wheat surplus predicted for 1929

The Department of Agriculture estimates that with average abandonment and yields, 46,523,000 acres sown for winter wheat this fall could yield about 610,000,000 bushels, creating an exportable surplus while domestic needs run 420,000,000 to 440,000,000 bushels. Competition from Canada Australia and Argentina looms as world carryover grows.
