Father of prominent Gurley citizen dies at son's home
John Newton Tiger, age 76, father of W H Tiger of Gurley, died Sunday August 12 at the home of R L Tiger in Waverly Nebraska where he had lived the past year. Born in High Bridge New Jersey, he moved to Clinots as a child and near Lincoln at 15, married Sarah Melick in 1882, leaving two sons and two daughters. Survived by daughter Mrs W C Pierce and son R L Tiger of Waverly and son W H Tiger of Gurley. Lifelong Lutheran, he later joined Grace Lutheran Gurley. funeral at Waverly and burial near the family lot in Waverly.

Three Victims of Lincoln Highway Crash Recovering
A head on collision on the Lincoln highway east of Sidney injured three men. A L Swanson of Ong Nebr underwent surgery for head injuries and lung and rib damage but is expected to recover. Sidney residents Frank Heinzman and John McFadden suffered facial injuries and chest trauma. McFadden wandered dazed until found and remains at home. An unknown hobo they picked up along the road was also injured.

Auto Thief 25 Sentenced to State Reformatory
Paul Johnson 25 of Maryville Missouri pleaded guilty in district court to stealing a Chevrolet coupe in Gurley and was sentenced to one to two years in the state reformatory. He was arrested in Wolf Point Montana after authorities learned of the stolen car. Johnson admitted the theft and told the court he has no current plans for children. He will be taken to Lincoln in a few days by the sheriff.

Farm laborer fined twenty five dollars for drunkenness
R. L. Simmons a 32 year old migratory worker from Emmet City La pleaded guilty in county court to a drunkenness charge and was fined 25 dollars plus costs by Judge Elmer Kah. He was arrested near Lodge Pole after a bootleg liquor tag and for insulting a woman in the car before the older couple helped him to a farm yard where the sheriff later found him two miles away. Simmons cannot recall the events and said he has informed his Louisiana brother to pay the fine or he will serve time in jail.
