More than 200 grain dealers and delegates from Colorado joined the Sidney gathering for the annual social meeting. John W. Redick led class A in the golf meet with Akron’s Joseph Hall and Omaha’s John Trimble tied for second. Paul Reimers won class B with George Rawson second. Herman Treinen and C. H. Matthewson won the rifle range. Jule Smith of Dallas delivered the longest-distance address. Colorado and Nebraska attendees enjoyed Krueger's lake entertainment, a 208-plate luncheon, vaudeville, an orchestra, social games and generous hotel arrangements.

Wyoming Herders Ship 350 Million Worth Of Sheep
Approximately half a million dollars in lambs will be shipped from Thermopolis and vicinity this week and next. Prices at the cars at Shoshoni average 11 to 12 cents a pound, with some contracts at 12 cents. In Hot Springs county about 60,000 lambs exist, over 80 percent already contracted, and the mutton and wool industry is projected to bring more than $1,000,000 to sheepmen.

Funeral for Owens boy killed Friday
Funeral services for five year old John Billy Duane Owens were held Monday afternoon at his parents home and burial followed in Sidney Cemetery. Rev J H Bicknell officiated. Duane was fatally injured when thrown from a milk delivery car driven by Neal Atkins last Friday morning. He died at 2 30 p m the same day after being rushed to a local hospital. He was the second of three children, with an older sister having died nine years earlier. The funeral was well attended with music by the Christian church choir. Pallbearers were Neal Atkins Oakley Atkins Victor Henderson and Ray Henderson.

Two county jail inmates will be moved to state facilities early this week. Hattie Moller, 15, from Kimball, faces a three year term at the York girls reformatory on a $10 theft charge. Paul Johnson, 25, from Missouri, will go to Lincoln’s state reformatory for one to two years after theft involving a car. Sheriff Nelson oversees the transfers as authorities could not place the girl due to home conditions.

Opened stretch of Lincoln Highway Cheyenne to near Egbert
The finished 29 mile section from Cheyenne to two miles from Egbert opened to traffic last week on the Lincoln highway. Five miles between Pine Bluffs and Egbert remain under construction. When completed the route will trim five miles from Pine Bluffs to Cheyenne and remove railroad crossings, reducing accidents.

Funeral for Frank Rihn Held in Gurley Sunday
Funeral services for Frank X. Rihn, pioneer Cheyenne County settler and retired farmer, were held Sunday at the English Lutheran church in Gurley with Rev. W. T. Kahse officiating. Burial followed in Gurley cemetery. Rihn, who helped homestead land that became part of Gurley, was once county central committee chairman. He spent winters in California and returned summers to Nebraska for business interests. An obituary will be published in the next Telegraph.

Laborer Held After Lemon Extract Spree Arrest
Fred Hanson aged 28 a laborer is jailed following arrest by Sheriff Nelson in Dalton on a lemon extract intoxication spree. Police found several bottles on him and $44 in change as part of the incident.

Old Settlers Reunion At Lodge Pole Draws Big Crowd

A large entertainment program featured old time stories, a fiddlers contest, performances on period instruments, bell game, water fights, sports races, plane rides, and motion pictures with music by the Goodview and Weyerts Bands. American Legion closes Nebraska state meet in Grand Island
The tenth annual Nebraska American Legion convention ended in Grand Island with Hastings winning the 1929 gathering. Wade Martin of Stratton was unanimously elected state commander. vice commanders named include R. Jordan O Neill Hamilton Barratt Fred Shmerds Sam Reynolds and Jack Leonard. Sam Reynolds becomes national committeeman and Jack Leonard chaplain. Martin, a former commander and adjutant, leads the Legion child welfare committee. A key resolution urged removing non pre armistice service members from rolls and urged Legionnaires to support candidates with proven sacrifice. A separate request sought a hearing on charges against C A Sorenson. Paul V. McNutt urged stronger Americanism in the nation.

Man Hurt When Car Skids On Lincoln Highway
H. H. Horner of Sibley Indiana suffered severe cuts to the head and face when his car skidded into a ditch on the Lincoln highway east of the city Sunday afternoon. Horner was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His wife, riding with him, was unhurt.
