Cities Must Ballot For PWA Funds By Oct 1

Driving Counts Filed Against Rush in Stop Sign Crash
Two complaints charging violation of driving laws were filed in county court against Clint Rush after a crash at 13th avenue and Illinois street Monday. Cheyenne county authorities seek Martin Vontz on charges of issuing an insufficient funds check to Snyder Clothing Company drawn on the First National Bank of Ogallala. Vontz allegedly claimed to represent Earl Fletcher of Holyoke, signed his own name, and the check was endorsed by Peter Peetz of Sidney. He reportedly told Snyder’s he lives at Big Springs, but officers say they have not heard of him.

Corn Deteriorating In Nebraska Report
For the fourth consecutive week Nebraska corn has deteriorated according to the Co-Operative Livestock and Corn reporting service. The condition is bad except in southeastern counties and Sarpy, Douglas, Washington and Dakota counties with pockets in north central areas and western panhandle. Hybrid corn shows some improvement while most grain sorghums are more promising though some have suffered damage. Roughage supply will be ample though cattle and sheep will not be enough to consume it. pasture remains low but still provides pasture.

J. A. Majors aged 65 of Chappell was killed instantly east of Paxton after being struck by a car owned by R. B. McKee and driven by Ray Little of Ogallala. Ruth Majors suffered a fractured hip and arm lacerations. Billy Smear had a fractured knee joint and bruises. Little sustained severe facial cuts and broken ribs. McKee a dislocated hip. All were taken to an Ogallala hospital. Majors had stopped his automobile in the road when hit. both cars were badly damaged.
