Local notes report farmers delivering wheat barley rye and potatoes of top quality with potato crops especially large. Ed Welch ships a fine potato load from Davison precinct as Cheyenne County boasts superior produce.
Local notes list residents from Lincoln, North River, Bridgeport, Lodgepole, Potter, Redington and elsewhere visiting Sidney this week. Citizens are reminded of the upcoming election next Tuesday and urged to vote. Montanas, deeds and business trips are noted among numerous travelers and community events.
Win Minshall of Lodgepole visits Sidney while Mrs. Ishmael of Bridgeport visits friends. A. K. Greenlee expects to vote on election day. Clyde Lancaster returns from Quincy NL to visit family and plans to winter in Colorado. The Degree of Honor Lodge announces a masquerade ball November 12. Reviews praise Mr Kemp as an elocutionist and performances of Shore Acres and Sealed Lips. A public dance will honor the 10th U. S. Cavalry returning from Fort Riley. Sheriff H Babb distributes election ballots to precincts. Peter Peetz moves to Mercer Colorado. Wholesale houses from Chicago St. Joe Kansas City and Denver attend. traveling salesmen report harvest. Citizens report stock running at large. milch cows urged to obey laws. Peter Nelson joins subscription list. Nelson buys brother N P Nelson’s ranch. Third degree in Masonry conferred on Rev. Austin of Wilber Neb. Col S T Josalyn and family bound for the Philippines. The Telegraph offers clubbing with Inter Ocean Prairie Farmer and New York Tribune for one year at $1.50. all three for $2.00 for a limited time.
W L Ravert, a young Union Valley man, visited Sidney Tuesday and ordered THE TELEGRAPH sent to his future address. He warned readers they will miss Kemp's entertainment on Friday evening November 6 at McPherson College, praising Everett Kemp as a top American platform reader.
R P Scott of Bridgeport in the city yesterday. G F Salle drove a carload of Oregon apples to North Platte on Monday. Col Dow sor traveled north Wednesday to discuss the county judge question. Jesse Holloway, pioneer of Court House Rock precinct, died in Colorado on Sunday October 15. Chas Endeley sold his livery and feed barn on neat second street to Lewis Wilson who plans to open it soon.
Foreman Jones of the Union Pacific shops at Sidney reports Cheyenne work on new steel. A special Union Pacific engine, number 845 of class 800, is described as a fast near engine. A carload of Union Pacific officials led by E. Buckingham and W. A. Deuel arrived for a tour of inspection, with Hammer and Ottmar guiding their route through the Nebraska division.
Clayton Radcliff is absent from 10th grade while in Omaha. Edgar Hedge and Barbara Kucers miss 9th grade early in the week. Attendance is improving after a poor start. Miss Johnson begins teaching fifth and sixth grades. The fifth room notes Ollie Ickes’s death and other shifts in seating and attendance. Ralph Devine leaves for St. Joseph Missouri. many pupils absent due to illness.
