School administrators and teachers from the Sixth Nebraska District arrive in Sidney Wednesday for a two day convention Thursday and Friday. 1,200 to 1,500 visitors expected. Registration opens late Wednesday. program begins Thursday with speakers and policy briefings from the Nebraska State Education Assn. Shuttle bus from the high school to downtown Sidney. All public schools dismissed Thursday and Friday.

Thirty Sidney businesses will hire thirty-three band students on Band Appreciation Day, November 6, to raise funds for a trip to the Tournament of Roses and the Rose Bowl. The retail committee urges at least one student per participating business and aims for 100 jobs citywide, with wages paid to support the band trip. Sixteen hundred head of livestock sold at the Sidney Livestock Sales Pavilion on Saturday. A Chimney Canyon Grazing Assn consignment boosted the market with heavy yearlings at 24 and calves up to 27.80. Hogs sold to 22.45. A calf sale with over 1,000 head is set for next Saturday, plus the Ivan Walker cow dispersal sale.
