Cheyenne County’s early settler Chris E. Weyerts 80 died after a stroke at Dalton hospital where he had been treated two weeks. A German born immigrant who arrived in 1881 and moved to Cheyenne County in 1882 he built a vast farming operation and helped found Gurley and the Weyerts community. Funeral Saturday at 2 p.m. at Weyerts Lutheran Church with Rev. W. Borchardt. Interment Weyerts cemetery. Survived by wife Anna, son John of Elma Washington, sister Anna Cramer, eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
