He had about $35, bought a car in Pueblo with a bank check, and briefly stayed in Denver before returning to Colorado with his brother to resume treatment.

Teachers who did not attend the Cheyenne and Dewner county teachers institute in Sidney must attend one of the Nebraska State Teachers Association district meetings at Chadron or North Platte on October 31. All public school teachers at Sidney Lodge Pole and Dalton will attend the sessions and schools will be closed those days. North Platte High School teachers will attend the meeting.

Hickman Faints at Gallows Before Death Trap Sprung
William Edward Hickman was hanged at San Quentin for the murder of Marian Parker, a 12 year old Los Angeles girl, in December. He collapsed before the trap fired, was pronounced dead 15 minutes later, and his neck broke only by strangulation as the fall shortened. He confessed to kidnapping and murder, planned to secure a place in criminal history, and spent final moments with a priest, writing farewell letters.

James Hill Sentenced to Twelve Years in Nebraska Penitentiary
James Earl Hill alias Chuck Lewis, who escaped Sidney jail and faced robbery and counterfeiting charges in Omaha, was sentenced to 12 years by Judge James Raitt. He had fled after robbing a motorist, issued Union Pacific checks, and was recaptured in Okmulgee Oklahoma. His wife and two children were briefly detained in Sidney before traveling to Oklahoma. Cheyenne county did not seek to reclaim him for the jail break.

Billie Gibson and a neighborhood friend found two large rattlesnakes while wandering pasture land near Chappell. They killed them with a 110 gauge shotgun. The longer snake exceeded five feet with twelve rattles and a button.

Frank Sharp was electrocuted at Lincoln early Friday for murdering his wife Harriett Sharp with a hammer. He faced two juries and a Nebraska Supreme Court upholding the death sentence. In the abandoned car death scene, palm prints on the hammer linked Sharp to the crime. He entered the chair calmly declaring innocence and readiness to die.
